According to the police officer, the student is now in the ICU. The girl’s call recording was scanned by the police as it is believed that she had a verbal altercation with another person on the phone. She reportedly climbed to the fourth floor of the building with the intention of taking a selfie, but instead stood on the railing and ended up jumping. A video of the incident was shared on Khabar watch Twitter and the Meerut police said in a statement that legal action was being taken.

“Our priority is to save the student’s life. In addition, the college formed a committee to investigate the matter. He is also coordinating with the police in his investigation,” Anam Shermani, a professional officer at Subharathi Medical College, told the daily.

Superintendent of Police (Rural) Keshav Kumar said that a youth has been questioned in this context and an investigation is underway to understand what exactly happened. The UP police have also taken possession of the CCTV footage of the incident from the college management to conduct further investigations.
