Indian Roorkee Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee and the Himalayan Organization for the Study and Conservation of the Environment (HESCO) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on cooperation in research and learning. MOU aims to develop relations between the two institutions.
“The agreement outlines the joint submission of research and development projects in line with proposals from various governmental and non-governmental funding organizations to promote rural infrastructure and improve the livelihoods of rural communities, training and seminars on sustainable development of the Himalayas,” the institute said. in his press release.

The two institutes agreed to hold a joint training program on various natural issues, namely: recently developed methods of water management and agricultural development, food security, agricultural security, livelihood security, drinking water security, energy security, natural hazards, climate et al. . The agreement also facilitates the exchange of staff and students for collaborative research.

Dr Anil Joshi, founder of HESCO, said: “The knowledge gained by IIT Roorkee will be passed on to HESCO to empower NGOs for socio-economic independence. The association, which will promote joint research by different communities, needs technologies such as agriculture, water and sanitation, and energy for Himalayan rural communities. ”
Professor Ajit K Chaturvedi, Director of IIT Roorkee, stressed: “The proposed cooperation between IIT Roorkee and HESCO will contribute to better water management and targeted agricultural development for the sustainable progress of rural communities in the Himalayan region.”
