The weather department has forecast heavy rainfall in the National Capital Region, including Gautam Buddh Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh, on Saturday

Classes will be suspended till 8 o’clock in all government and private schools in Noida and Greater Noida due to rains, the Gautam Buddh Nagar district administration announced on Friday. Earlier, the district administration announced the closure of schools on Friday due to prolonged rains.

“Concerning the safety of the students in view of the heavy rains and excessive waterlogging of the roads, the District Magistrate has declared a holiday on September 24 (Saturday) for students of classes 1-8 in all schools of all boards. Hence, all principals and principals should ensure compliance with the order, said District School Inspector Dharamveer Singh. The weather department has predicted heavy rainfall in the national capital region, including Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Budh Nagar district, on Saturday.

Gautama Budh Nagar received continuous rainfall since Thursday till Friday evening, leading to waterlogging in some parts of Noida and Greater Noida. Road traffic jams due to rain were also reported from parts of the district, especially during the morning and evening rush hours, even as police said the situation was mostly under control in the twin cities bordering Delhi.

In the 24-hour period that ended on Friday morning, the district recorded 15 mm of rainfall – a 689 percent deviation from normal for this time of year, the weather department said.
