A public school principal allegedly committed suicide in his room at an institution in the Shahdol district of Madhya Pradesh, police said Thursday. DP Singh (55), director of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalala in Mau, allegedly hanged himself on a rope in his cell on Wednesday night, Beahari police chief in charge Sudip Soni said. The reason for such an extreme step is not yet clear, he said.
Members of the Singh family took him to the Beahari Public Health Center, where doctors pronounced him dead, after which staff and his family took him to Shahdol Medical College in hopes that he would survive, but he was again pronounced dead, the official said. .
