CLARKVILLE — Red River commissioners voted to extend the county’s correctional officer award for the next three months and recognized May as Mental Health Awareness Month during a meeting Monday morning at the Red River County Building.
Sheriff Jimmy Caldwell reminded the commissioners that the bonus pay plan was put in place three months ago, and he is seeking county approval to extend it to correctional officers for another 90 days.
County Auditor Camille Hines told the commission that the payment would be funded from the commissioners fund, as in the previous plan.
Sally Tidwell, regional administrator for Community Healthcore, read a resolution declaring this month to be Mental Health Awareness Month and detailing the need for adequate mental health and how Healthcore serves the needs of the nine-county region it serves.
Commissioners approved a request by district judges to allow them to use electronics for jury selection in the future.
