Paris High School student Madeline Tallas pulled off a triple crown of sorts.
The high school senior was named valedictorian of the Class of 2023, a title her mother and sister held, but at different schools, she said.
“My mom went to Arkansas and my sister went to Centennial High School in Burleson, but there was no pressure,” she said.
Tallas said she worked hard in her schoolwork, however, to get the good grades that lead to scholarships.
“It was definitely part of my plan. “I was a perfectionist sometimes,” she said.
She has been in the Paris school system since her sophomore year in high school.
While at Paris High, she said she enjoyed English, especially this year in Sandra Strom’s class.
“I really got along with Mrs. Strom,” she said.
She played volleyball and basketball at school. She was also a member of the Texas Association of Future Educators, Althea Garden Club, Key Club and National Honor Society.
She said she received a number of scholarships and will attend Ouachita Baptist University, a private Baptist university in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
“My whole family went there. Now there is a brother and a sister,” she said. “I just think it’s what God had for me.”
She plans to major in communications and minor in business.
“I have aspirations of owning my own business,” she said.
