French President Emmanuel Macron met Pope Francis at the Vatican on Monday. L’entretien devait notably porter sur la war en Ukraine, mais aussi sur les débats de society en France, comme l’accueil des refugees et la fin de vie.

Emmanuel Macron a en outre appelé les religions, dans son discours de dimanche, à leur “devoir de résistance” contre “la pulsion de purity” et le retour des “grandes peurs” qui agitant les sociétés occidentales.

Le pape s’est élevé, vendredi, contre l’euthanasie lors d’un discours devant des élus français, au moment même où Paris s’apprête à lancer une convention citoyenne sur cette question delicate pour éventur à un eventual changement de la loi.
